Our Story
In the fall of 2020, co-founders Ari Roth and Ethan Cott created GateTVs to ease the burden of wanting entertainment in a college setting.
During the 2020 school year, Ari and Ethan worked behind the scenes surveying Colgate students, building a website, forming an LLC, structuring the business, and more. After lots of hard work, we received official approval from the school to start business operations in the fall of 2021.
We did over 35 rentals during our first two semesters of operating. TIA was impressed with our traction and supported us with a seed grant. This allowed us to purchase more TV inventory ahead of time, leading to quicker delivery times for our customers.
Natalie Rong, a 2022 addition to the team as Creative Director, took our marketing efforts to new heights. By fall 2022, our inventory had grown to over 60 smart TVs, which continuously sell out semester after semester.
After Ari, Ethan, and Natalie graduated in the spring of 2024, GateTvs entered its next phase of life welcoming two new members with Matt Nemsick and Zaharah Fiorentinos. With a continued focus on providing the best customer experience, we look forward to solving Colgate students entertainment needs!

I’m a sophomore from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts majoring in Economics. Within the Colgate community, I am member of the Mens Lacrosse team and the Colgate Investment Group. After graduation, I aspire to work in finance where I can continue to grow with and around fellow entrepreneurs.

I’m a sophomore from Palisades Park, New Jersey, planning to major in International Relations. Outside of this TIA venture, I am involved in Madison Mentors, a local elementary school mentoring organization. Post-graduation, I am interested in potentially working in business, and possess a strong passion for marketing and the creativity it offers.
